A wooden portrait captures a person in a way no photograph can: life-size, sculptural, permanent, and entirely their own.

Each portrait is individually created in layered wood from a short video of the person. The sculpture captures one half of the head at life size, with its layered form intended to be viewed in profile.

I review whether the video has been filmed correctly and contains enough detail to work from.

If the video is suitable, the order can be confirmed and a payment request is sent. Once payment is received, work on the piece begins.

Subtle natural refinement is included as standard, so the final piece feels calm, balanced and flattering while preserving the person’s recognisable likeness.

No two portraits are alike. Each piece is a considered interpretation of the person in layered wood.

Created within 4–6 weeks after approval. Delivered worldwide. Shipping is quoted separately once the destination is known.

Comments and extra requests:

When submitting the video, you may add a short note if there is anything useful to know about the person or the desired result.

More specific requests, such as using an earlier photo, creating a softer likeness, or providing personal comments to guide the digital model, are possible as an additional service. In that case, the refined digital model can be reviewed before the piece is made.

Video requirements

Film a short, sharp video in landscape mode. The person should sit still on a simple stool.

For best results, film outside on a cloudy day. Use soft, even daylight and avoid direct sun or hard shadows.

The video does not need to be perfect, but it should be calm, clear and contain enough detail to create the 3D model.

Camera movement

Move slowly around the head while gently moving the camera up and down.

This helps capture the face from all sides, including under the chin and the top of the head.

Each bust is made from precision-cut, lightweight layered wood. The finished sculpture receives one coat of iQon Mano spray. Other materials will be introduced later.

Yes. Each bust is made at life-size scale. For exact 1:1 scale, submit one additional front-facing photo with a bank-card-sized card touching the underside of the nose.

The bust is normally completed within 4–6 weeks after the video has been accepted and payment received.

Not during the main video or scale photo, as they hide parts of the face and head. Glasses or a hat can be added by submitting a separate video of the item. This requires additional modelling and is quoted separately.

Not yet. For now, the video must be filmed on an iPhone and shared through an iCloud link. Support for other phones will follow.

An iCloud link keeps the original video quality needed to create the 3D model. Videos shared through messaging or social-media apps may be compressed.

Not always. If important angles or sufficient detail are missing, a new video may be requested before the order is confirmed.

The exact shipping price is confirmed before payment. Import taxes may apply outside the EU.

Deliveries within the EU do not involve import charges. For destinations outside the EU, local import VAT, sales tax or customs charges may apply. These are determined by the destination country and are normally paid by the recipient.

Files are used only to assess and create the bust. They are never shared with third parties or published. Copies of the files or digital model can be shared with the customer on request.
